Intellectual Property Attorney

Who I Am

I started my own law firm straight out of law school and have been practicing law in Columbus, Ohio for 5+ years. During that time, I focused on business law and litigation, gaining some exposure to intellectual property law. While running my firm in 2021, I decided to go back to school and get my patent license. Since then, I’ve been focusing on protecting innovators and entrepreneurs through my expertise in intellectual property and business law.

Experience

Patent Law

I have been a patent attorney since 2021. I have experience helping small business owners and independent inventors file patent applications. I also have experience defending small business owners faced with patent infringement litigation.

My patent application experience includes provisional applications for fitness equipment, utility applications for construction equipment, utility applications for electrical-mechanical devices, utility applications for various handheld tools and miscellaneous inventions, utility and design applications for food storage devices, and patentability searches for several inventors.

Trademarks

I have helped clients apply for Trademarks, respond to USPTO office actions, successfully prosecuted Trademark applications to issuance, and consulted with several business owners on Trademark Infringement issues.

Intellectual Property Contracts & Licensing

I frequently consult with business owners on the effects of contracts and transactional documents regarding intellectual property rights. This includes trade secrets issues, confidentiality, non-disclosure agreements, IP provisions in franchising agreements, work-for-hire issues, etc. Entrepreneurs come to me when they care about protecting their IP rights when doing business.

I also have experience working with entertainers. I’ve consulted on producer-artist agreements, copyright licensing issues, and issues regarding the protection of fictional creations.
