JOSIAH COLLIER, ESQ.

Biography

After becoming the only person in his law school’s history to graduate a year early, Attorney Collier started his own law firm in 2018 and has been practicing business law ever since, serving businesses with incorporation, contract review & drafting, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate leasing and transfers, and business litigation. Joe has helped hundreds of businesses through the startup process and advised on countless business transactions. 

In 2020, Mr. Collier went back to school to complete his education in chemistry while running the firm. In 2021, Joe passed the patent bar and obtained a USPTO patent license, expanding the firm’s practice as a patent and trademark lawyer. Since obtaining his patent license, Mr. Collier has filed hundreds of trademarks, numerous patents in varying fields of technology, and manages IP portfolios for several businesses, including negotiating licensing agreements and leading opposition proceedings. Joe is continuing his scientific education by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys fitness and studying Mandarin, Chinese. Ironically, these have also led to more work, as Joe has helped various business owners file patents on fitness equipment, and now serves several clients in China seeking to protect their business and IP in the US.

  • Led the acquisition of an Extended Stay America franchise location for over $5m
  • Led the acquisition of four Firehouse Subs franchise locations for over $1m
  • Managed the trademark portfolio of a financial advisor firm, including leading multiple trademark opposition proceedings
  • Counseled clients on various M&A transactions, including accounting firms, medical practices, auto shops, restaurants, and hotels
  • Litigated business ownership and shareholder disputes and breach of contract matters
  • Filed and prosecuted hundreds of trademark applications
  • Filed and prosecuted patent applications in various technology fields including consumer products, mechanical devices, electrical devices, fitness equipment, medical devices, software, and designs
  • Formed hundreds of LLC’s and Corporations

Education

Mr. Collier graduated from Capital University Law School in 2 years. With a B.A. in business administration, Mr. Collier returned to undergraduate studies in chemistry to qualify for and pass the patent bar. Joe is currently continuing his education in biology and plans to attend Johns Hopkins University to obtain an M.S. in Biotechnology.
